Here you will find some travel information, especially how to reach the conference venue from the airports Dortmund, Düsseldorf, and Frankfurt, respectively. Please also take notice of the remarks on the bottom of this page.
Airport Dortmund
Dortmund itself has an international airport. There are several connections from south-Europe offered by easyJet, Germanwings, Air Berlin, and others. You can find all connections on the airport homepage. Flights from east- and south-east-Europe are offered by Germanwings, Wizzair and easyJet. easyJet also offers a direct flight from London to Dortmund, Air Berlin from Rome to Dortmund. Air Berlin has also some connections from north-Africa and Turkey to Dortmund.
From airport to Westfalenhallen
From Dortmund airport you can take a bus-connection to the venue Westfalenhallen. There is bus 440 going from terminal to Dortmund Brünninghausen two times per hour. In Dortmund Brünninghausen you have to change the bus to line 450 which is going directly to Westfalenhallen. The whole trip costs 2,30 EUR and takes 50 minutes. There are also cabs in the arrival area of the airport. A trip by cab should cost about 20 EUR and takes 15 minutes.
Airport Düsseldorf
Düsseldorf International airport has connections to north-America, whole Europe, Asia, and Africa. A complete list of operating airliners can be found here.
From airport to Westfalenhallen
If you arrive at Düsseldort International airport you can take a train to Dortmund. During working days, 3 trains are going per hour from airport Düsseldorf to Dortmund central station. We recommend to use the train leaving each full hour which is also going Saturday and Sunday, too. As a rule, this train is going from track 1 and needs 46 minutes to reach Dortmund central station. At Dortmund central station, you can use subway U45 to reach the conference venue (Station Westfalenhallen) within 10 minutes; please make sure you have a valid ticket before entering the subway. The whole trip costs about 25 EUR.
Airport Frankfurt Rhein-Main
Frankfurt International airport is the second largest airport in Europe. It has connections to all over the world. A complete list of operating airliners and connections you can find here.
From airport to Westfalenhallen
From Frankfurt International airport, a direct 2-hour train connection to Dortmund central station is available. We recommend to take the train going 9 minutes after full hours from track FERN-8. At Dortmund central station, you can take the subway U45 to reach the conference venue (Station Westfalenhallen); please make sure you have a valid ticket before entering the subway. The whole trip costs about 85 EUR.
Please notice that, in most cases, you have to buy a ticket before entering a train or subway. Please keep this in mind to avoid any trouble. Bus tickets can also be obtained directly from the bus driver.
For a detailed schedule you can use the TravelService of Deutsche Bahn. Your "Start" will be "Dortmund airport", "Düsseldorf airport", or "Frankfurt airport", respectively. The destination is "Dortmund Westfalenhallen".
Please also notice that several airliners (e.g. Lufthansa) have connections form all over the world to Düsseldorf via Munich.
