  • Theoretical foundations of strategic technology and innovation management;
  • Fundamentals of innovation economics and industrial evolution;
  • Fundamentals, parameters and problem areas of industry and technology life cycle models;
  • Design and creation of the product architecture of innovations;
  • Make-or-buy questions in strategic technology and innovation management;
  • Internationalization of innovation processes;
  • Insights into specific cases of strategic technology and innovation management.

Qualification Goals

After completing the module, students will be able to

  • name and explain in detail the central concepts, models and explanatory approaches of strategic technology and innovation management as well as the innovation-economic framework conditions
  • Furthermore, students have in-depth knowledge in selected fields of strategic technology and innovation management, in particular in the field of technology management as well as in the design and architecture of product and process innovations, and can present their knowledge in a structured and detailed manner.
  • Through case study work accompanying the lecture, students are also able to apply methods and instruments of strategic technology and innovation management, e.g. life cycle models, and to analyze success and failure factors.

None. Note: Students can choose either the module Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation: Case Studies or Strategic Management of Technology, Innovation and Intellectual Property.
