Detailed travel instructions Frankfurt Airport -> Marburg Hauptbahnhof
1) At the Airport, get to Terminal 1. If you arrived at Terminal 2, the "Sky line"
(= airport metro) will be faster and more comfortable than the bus shuttle.
At Terminal 1, follow the signs "Bahnhöfe / Train stations".
2) The train station is divided in 2 parts: platforms 1-3 (this is where you enter the station) are for regional trains and S-Bahn (metro), while platforms 4-7 are for
long distance trains and a distance to walk from the entrance. Look for a RMV ticket
vending machine and buy a ticket for a trip inside Frankfurt (code 50 for Frankfurt),
current price is 3,70 EUR.
3) Take the S-Bahn to "Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof" from platform 1 (direction "city").
Travelling time: 11 minutes.
4) at Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, find out which is the next train to Marburg. There are
two possibilities:
Acronyms: DB = Deutsche Bahn, the main German railroad company; Hbf = Hauptbahnhof =
central station; RE = Regional-Express = regional metro train; RMV = Rhein-Main-Verbund, the public transport company resp. for the
whole Rhine-Main area that includes Frankfurt and Marburg.
5) Get off at "Marburg Hauptbahnhof", sometimes also denoted by its full name
"Marburg (an der) Lahn". Depending on your train, the station before is either
"Giessen" (DB) or "Marburg Süd" (RMV).
