40th Seminar Sophus Lie

Details and accomodation

The workshop takes place in the conference castle "Schloss Rauischholzhausen" (property of University Gießen), located in the green surroundings of Marburg. The property was first mentioned in a charter book of the monastery of Fulda between 750 and 779; the present castle has been built between 1871 and 1878 in the style of an English manor house. We recommend the adjacent English style park for mathematical discussions between the talks.

Despite being a Castle, participation is not very expensive. Accomodation and board are to be paid directly to the Castle administration.

N.B. Being a conference hotel in a small village, the Castle has no night concierge. If you arrive late at night, please make sure to have the cell phone number of a participant that you know who will let you in. Once inside, the keys are lying openly at the entrance desk.

Comments:

The number of participants of the workshop is restricted to approx. 50 persons by the number of rooms available. If necessary, participants can be hosted in the adjacent "Hotel zum Stern" at the entrance of the park (Zimmerplatz 4). Meals (except breakfast) can then be booked separately at the Castle.

Talks will begin on Friday, January 7, 2011 after breakfast and end on Saturday, January 8, 2011 before supper. Participants are invited to arrive on Thursday afternoon (1/6) and to leave on Saturday late afternoon/evening (1/8). It is possible to have supper at the castle on Saturday evening if wished (see above). For participants with long journeys, it is possible to stay overnight at the castle until Sunday morning.
