Contents

In the seminar

Adaptation to diverse living conditions; extremophiles and their physiological-morphological adaptations; structures, biochemistry, and strategies; recent microevolution of traits under selection pressure; mate choice and evolution.

In the exercise

Comparative functional morphology and biochemistry of animals; structure-function relationships; adaptation to living conditions, specialization; body surfaces (e.g., ontogenetic origin, structure, molecules); movement (e.g. Ectoskeletons, endoskeletons, their origin and structure; biomechanics; evolution of limbs and wings); food acquisition and ingestion (esp. structural features, silks, adhesive filaments, bioluminescence); digestion (e.g., special foregut structures); circulatory systems and respiration; excretory organs; reproduction.

Qualification Goals

The module delves into aspects of animal functional morphology, incorporating biochemical relationships.

Prerequisites
