Although the original purpose of the World-Wide Web was to deliver documents, today it is used more and more as a platform for interactive applications. The Web has important implications for the programming model of applications and requires the deployment and integration of a number of different technologies from the field of markup languages, scripting languages, network protocols and Web services. This module will introduce you to key web technologies and you will gain experience with how these technologies work together to enable exciting applications.


Qualification Goals

Upon completion of this module, students will

  • know what web technologies exist and how to use them,
  • be able to understand the applications and the power of these techniques,
  • have developed an understanding of the interplay and dependencies between the technologies,
  • have practiced scientific working methods (recognising, formulating, solving problems, training the ability to abstract),
  • have trained oral communication skills in the exercises by practicing free speech in front of an audience and in discussion.
