Chemical bonding, crystal structures, diffraction and reciprocal lattice, dynamics of the lattice, elastic properties, thermal properties, free electrons, band structure, semiconductors, dielectric properties, magnetism, superconductivity.
Qualification Goals
Students deepen their knowledge of the microscopic structure of matter. They learn methods for structural analysis of crystals and concepts for modeling the properties of solids.
