Theoretical and technical fundamentals of fluorescence and confocal laser scanning microscopy as well as their areas of application, introduction to the basics of digital image processing

In the exercise

Application and analysis possibilities of the confocal laser scanning microscope using examples; basics of immunocytochemistry and vital fluorescence labeling, preparation of digital image material with image processing software for display/analysis.


Qualification Goals

Students are introduced to the theoretical and technical principles of fluorescence and confocal laser scanning microscopy and the fundamentals of digital image processing. Examples are used to demonstrate application and analysis possibilities of the confocal laser scanning microscope and the image processing software used.
