Qualification Goals

Students are taught methodological and application skills in statistical analysis procedures, specifically in the area of econometric methods. The linear model is treated. Basic terminology is introduced, model assumptions, KQ estimation and possibilities of model fitting and model testing are discussed, tests for assumption violations are presented and possibilities for dealing with assumption violations are explained.

The module strengthens methodological competences in the area of quantitative methods, especially in the area of econometric analysis methods.

Students learn the appropriate and professional use of the linear model. They understand how to build, test and evaluate appropriate models and how to interpret the estimation results. Special emphasis is placed on a critical discussion of methods, which is essential for a comprehensive understanding and correct interpretation of results. Students will also learn how to apply general statistical concepts to justify the use of the methods employed.
