The module includes a systematic introduction to the fundamentals of economic policy. This includes normative issues in economic policy, welfare economics market failure theory, externalities and environmental policy, competition problems and competition policy/regulation of natural monopolies, information asymmetries and consumer policy, and social policy.


Qualification Goals

Upon completion of the module, students will be able to,

(1) explain the theoretical foundations of economic policy,

(2) derive economic policy recommendations for solving specific economic problems from economic theories, and

(3) explain specific areas of economic policy in depth.
