This module contains an initial introduction to basic concepts in economics. Here, the focus is on microeconomics (e.g. demand, supply, markets). Upon successful completion of this module, students will be familiar enough with basic microeconomic concepts and categories that more advanced courses can productively build upon this knowledge.


Qualification Goals

Upon completion of this module, students will be able to,

(1) name and explain basic economic concepts (e.g., opportunity cost),

(2) apply methods to analyze simple market models (e.g., models of perfect competition) in concrete specifications and determine market outcomes (e.g., equilibrium prices) in simple model specifications.
