Contents

This module deals with the question of the causes and possible solutions of environmental problems as well as their chances of implementation in the political process. Different policy areas and a variety of economic instruments are introduced (taxes, tradable certificates, subsidies). In addition, psychological aspects of environmental behavior are presented and how these interact with economic incentives.


Qualification Goals

Upon completion of the module, students will be able to,

(1) name different theoretical and empirical foundations of environmental economics and explain their interaction,

(2) work in teams to develop solutions to environmental economic problems and to reflect on the results of individual and collective action, and

(3) discuss and present results and deal constructively with criticism.
