In the exercise with seminar

During the field work lasting several days, students practice addressing and assigning plants that are rare or do not occur at all in Central Europe, investigate morphological features, and relate them to their location. The use of ornamental and useful plants of the Mediterranean as well as plants relevant to cultural history (Greek mythology, biblical plants) will be studied and discussed.

Qualification Goals

The module introduces the study of previously unknown flora and vegetation in morphological, ecological, taxonomic, and anthropological terms. The aim of the module is to increase plant and form knowledge and an understanding of the relationships between climate, human influence and vegetation. The module is suitable for research and practice-related careers in organismic botany with cross-relationships to ecology, biodiversity conservation and presentation (museums, botanic gardens), university research, and provides a foundation for any conservation activity. Students of cellular microbiology majors will use this module to distinguish themselves through botanical form knowledge and fundamentals in applied botany.
