Contents

Electrostatics, magnetostatics, Maxwell's equations microscopically and in matter, electromagnetic waves (radiation, propagation), multipoles, boundary value problems, Green's function, special relativity, series of orthogonal functions, Fourier transform, integral theorems, distributions.


Qualification Goals

Upon completion of the module, students will be able to name basic definitions and methods from the field of classical field theory and explain working methods of the field. They are able to describe the problems mathematically. The students are able to classify theoretical approaches and model building. They have the ability to evaluate given problems from classical field theory and to recognize ways to solve them and to successfully follow the solution path in simple cases by applying the methods they have learned in the module.
