Contents

In this practically oriented course, students work individually or in small groups to create their own website. The main steps are design, conception, discussion and implementation. The course is interdisciplinary and teaches the necessary basics such as HTML, CSS, content management systems, but also the basics of photography, video, text and various options for presentation and design. In addition, there is an introduction to PHP, as well as JavaScript, different frameworks and the connection of an own backend.

In addition, there is the constructive exchange in the plenum. In each of the steps, the students receive individual feedback, tips, ideas and are shown perspectives on their work.

When creating the websites, the students are encouraged to try things out. The choice of topics and the concrete method of implementation are free. In terms of conception, the design usually arises from the content and its requirements for presentation and communication. Theme, content and design can be experimental, off the mainstream, varied, cheeky, loud or zeitgeisty and inspired by art, literature and music.

The different levels of knowledge of the heterogeneous learning group (students of computer science, mathematics, media, art, German studies and many others) determine the teaching content: the aim is to bundle and supplement individual prior knowledge and to address the requirements and focal points of the selected website projects accordingly. The motto is also to learn from and explore with each other.
