Contents

This module contains analyses of economic interactions, cooperation

and coordination mechanisms in situations where market prices are

not present (e.g., in hierarchies, committees, families or cooperatives).

In particular, it addresses the structure of authority, of incentives and

of monitoring in such situations.


Qualification Goals

Upon completion of the module, students will be able to,

(1) distinguish between different obstacles to coordination and cooperation and relate them to incentive structures,

(2) summarize key findings from selected contributions to the relevant literature, e.g., organizational or family economics; and

(3) apply this knowledge to assess specific problems.
