NoSQL database systems have proven themselves in a variety of applications where non-SQL-based systems are required for the

management of large and rapidly growing databases are no longer adequate. In this context, NoSQL systems offer advantages

in distributed and scalable management, as well as a more application-oriented data model. The lecture covers the following topics

menus:

1) Introduction to distributed computing such as Apache Spark.

2) Overview of different types of NoSQL systems (such as Cassandra, MongoDB, ElasticSearch).


Qualification Goals

Students will

  • know distributed data management techniques and can apply them,
  • know basic knowledge and for dealing with NoSQL systems ,
  • can use these systems in an application context,
  • are able to recognize differences between various NoSQL systems and relational systems,
  • are able to speak freely about scientific content, both in front of an audience and in a discussion.

Prerequisites

None. The competences taught in the following module are recommended: Database Systems.
