Contents

The module teaches the content, purpose and significance of both topographic and thematic maps.


Qualification Goals

Students will learn to assess the informative value of maps and how to create maps computer-assisted using the appropriate methods depending on the data and medium of publication, as well as the use of technical terminology. The ability to communicate factual information using graphic means of expression applicable not only to maps but also to text graphics, diagrams, etc. is taught. Further competencies, such as the acquisition of a differentiated visual perception ability, cognitive competence in the form of the ability to critique maps, independent knowledge acquisition through independent familiarization with the software by means of help texts and exercises, creativity with regard to map design and reflection on one's own work steps in map creation are goals of the module.
