Contents
Point Mechanics:
Kinematics and dynamics of mass points in one and three spatial dimensions, Newton's laws, conservation laws, bound and unbound motions in potentials, integration of equations of motion for symmetric potentials, description of scattering processes, Hamilton's principle, Lagrangian equations of the first and second kind, rigid bodies, Hamiltonian mechanics.
Computational techniques:
Vector analysis, series expansions (Taylor, Fourier), differential equations, systems of linear equations.
Qualification Goals
Students learn and practice analyzing observations of mechanical processes and reducing them to basic relationships in mechanics. Equipped with the necessary computational techniques, they will be able to formulate and work on models to describe the observations.
Prerequisites
None
Applicability
Module imported from B.Sc. Physik.
When studying B.Sc. Mathematics, this module can be attended in the study area Minor subject Physics.
Die Wahlmöglichkeit des Moduls ist durch seine Klassifikation als Theoriemodul aus dem Bachelor Physik (TB) beschränkt.
