Contents

  • Mathematics topics requiring only the basic modules
  • Topics are distributed to individual students or subject areas are distributed to small groups of students
  • Familiarisation with the topic on the basis of scientific literature in self-study supported by feedback from the lecturer
  • One lecture per participant on the respective topic, largely free and comprehensible for the seminar participants
  • Discussion about the lectures

Qualification Goals

Students will

  • independently develop an easily accessible mathematical topic.
  • Learn the beginning principles of independent scientific work,
  • practice preparing and breaking down mathematical relationships and supplementing them with explanatory content,
  • learn how to deal with scientific literature and how to search for it,
  • practice giving a structured lecture on a lighter mathematical topic,
  • practice using presentation media,
  • improve their oral communication skills by practicing free speech in front of a larger audience and in discussion,
  • learn how to use mathematical typesetting programs during seminar preparation.
