Normative foundations of economic policy; welfare economic market failure theory; external effects and environmental policy; competition problems and competition policy / regulation of natural monopolies; information asymmetries and consumer policy; social policy; problems and limits of government economic policy.


Qualification Goals

The aim of the module is to introduce students to the theoretical foundations of economic policy and to show how economic theories can be used to derive recommendations for political action to solve concrete economic problems. In doing so, students will also be taught fundamentals in individual fields of action of economic policy.
