Physical terms and concepts: kinetics and dynamics of mass points, conservation laws, Newton's axioms, gravity and planetary motion, moving reference frames and special relativity, impact processes, dynamics of rigid bodies, gyroscopic motion, deformation of solid bodies, friction, hydrostatics, flows, oscillations, mechanical waves, acoustics.
Qualification Goals
Students gain important specialized knowledge of the interrelationships of mechanics. Using the fundamental experimental findings of mechanics and their mathematical description, students learn physical methods and ways of working. The importance of experiment and theoretical model building is taught.
