Qualification Goals

The module imparts basic knowledge of organizational forms, methods and modes of operation of spatial planning and land use planning with special consideration of Germany's federalist system. In addition to the instruments and legal foundations of regional development planning, regional planning and urban land use planning, concepts for settlement structure development, means of enforcing spatial planning objectives, European spatial planning policy and EU funding strategies are also presented.

The acquisition of technical and methodological knowledge as well as the understanding of the mode of action, the goals and limits of German spatial planning in a political context are competence-oriented objectives of the module.
