Cloud computing refers to the possibility of using distributed hardware and software resources provided by a provider on the Internet on demand and paying for them depending on their use.

The lecture presents concepts (e.g. ''everything-as-a-service'', virtualization) of cloud computing, as well as some of the cloud architectures, cloud offerings, programming models, and software tools and applications developed in recent years. Economic considerations, as well as opportunities and risks of cloud computing are explained. One focus of the lecture is the practical testing of the concepts taught in the form of programming exercises.


Qualification Goals

  • Learn the basic concepts of cloud computing,
  • Creating software that runs in the cloud,
  • Designing cloud infrastructures and tools,
  • Practice of scientific working methods (recognition, formulation, solving problems, training of abstraction skills),
  • Training of oral communication skills in the exercises by practicing free speech in front of an audience and during discussion.

Prerequisites

None. The competences taught in the following modules are recommended: Object-oriented Programming, either Algorithms and Data Structures or Practical Informatics II: Data Structures and Algorithms for Pre-Service-Teachers, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Distributed Systems.
