Contents
In its approach, the module focuses on synthetic geometry or analytic geometry. Elementary geometric questions and results on elementary geometric objects (e.g. triangles, squares, circles) are dealt with in an axiomatic-deductive or analytical-computational approach.
In particular, the basic geometric objcts (such as lengths, angles, lines, straight lines, figures), geometric theorems (such as incidence theorems, theorems about triangles and special lines in triangles, the Pythagorean theorems, theorems on congruence, theorems about squares, theorems on circles, theorems of Thales, circumference angle theorems, theorems of trigonometry) and geometric maps (in particular homotheties and their properties).
Qualification Goals
Competences:
The students
- have basic geometric knowledge and skills,
- know and understand an approach to geometry (synthetic or analytical) and can apply its methods to concrete problems,
- know central elementary geometric questions and results, as well as their context of justification.
Qualification goals:
Students have a basic knowledge of mathematics for geometry teaching in secondary schools. This includes, in particular, familiarity with the technical terms and methods/results of elementary geometry.
Prerequisites
None. The competences taught in the following modules are recommended: Analysis I, Analysis II, Linear Algebra incl. Foundations of Mathematics.
Applicability
The module can be attended at FB12 in study program(s)
- LAaG Mathematics
When studying LAaG Mathematics, this module must be completed in the study area Advanced Modules.
