In order to assess the net assets, financial position and results of operations of a company, all relevant business transactions are recorded in the accounting system. The lecture/exercise deals with the accounting obligations under commercial and tax law, the principles of proper accounting, inventory and stocktaking as well as the balance sheet and the profit and loss account as components of the annual financial statements. Preparatory financial statement work such as depreciation, accounts receivable and accruals are covered as well as other receivables/payables and prepaid expenses. The main financial statement as a tool for controlling entries as well as the execution of the main financial statement are finally considered.
