Students will learn the basics of general biochemistry and systematics with the following emphases. 1) composition and structure of biological macromolecules and low molecular weight components, 2) mode of operation and mechanistic principles of enzyme action, and 3) examples of organization and regulation of elementary metabolic pathways.
Qualification Goals
Learning objective is to acquire a comprehensive understanding of basic biochemical concepts and theories; including an understanding of the basic chemical processes of organisms. To enable students to answer biological questions based on knowledge of biochemical processes; to learn quantitative analysis of biochemical data using examples.
