Qualification Goals
The module deals with the quantitative and qualitative concepts of systems theory that are central in the environmental sciences. Basic model building procedures are taught and scenario and path analyses, optimization and system stabilization are dealt with. The theoretical contents serve as a basis for the concrete implementation of own models.
Knowledge of model-oriented representation and abstraction of world segments in the context of systems theory is taught. This includes system analysis, model building, scenario planning, model optimization and model discussion. Furthermore, declarative software is used to learn the realization of simple systems theoretical concepts in the geographical environmental sciences.
The students acquire scientific-theoretical problem-solving skills. They acquire the skills to comprehensibly and appropriately analyze specific sections of the environment and define them as systems. They will be able to translate these systems into models and develop simulation scenarios using appropriate software.
Prerequisites
None.
