Based on a targeted repetition of the central concepts of rational decision-making under uncertainty, the participants of the lecture are first comprehensively familiarized with Prospect Theory as the most widely used formalized alternative to Expected Utility Theory. In addition, students in this course will receive an introduction to experimental behavioral research and a comprehensive overview of behavioral and capital market anomalies identified to date.
Qualification Goals
After completing the module, students will be able to
- explain the explanatory contribution of behavioral finance beyond classical financial theory from the perspective of investors, corporate decision-makers and at market level,
- understand and analyze psychological influences on investment decisions,
- process the relevant empirical studies from behavioral finance and
- apply the findings of behavioral finance in practice, e.g. in the design of so-called 'nudges'.
