Contents
This module includes analysis and discussion of the rationale for government intervention, government revenue and government expenditure. It provides a basic analysis of taxation and selected aspects of political economy.
Qualification Goals
On completion of the module, students will be able to,
- identify market failures in specific circumstances and analyze potential policy instruments,
- formally describe the functioning of taxes in simple situations and
- evaluate welfare criteria and basic voting procedures.
Prerequisites
None. The competences taught in the following module are recommended: Decision-Making in Strategic and Non-Strategic Settings.
