Microbiology:

The world of microorganisms, structure of the prokaryotic cell, bacterial cell wall, cytoplasmic membrane, energy metabolism and biosyntheses, fundamentals of thermodynamics, mechanisms of energy conservation, substance uptake and transport, biosynthesis of monomers, Biosynthesis of polymers, flagella and movement, growth and reproduction, basics of adaptation to changes in habitat, genetics and evolution, DNA mutation, transfer of genetic material, DNA recombination, systematics and phylogeny, bacterial taxonomy, fungi / viruses. Biotechnology: production of food, use of metabolic products, wastewater technology.

Basic practical course in microbiology:

Analysis of water samples from a bacterial point of view; learning microbiological working techniques. Isolation and identification with biochemical and molecular methods. Enterobacteriaceae. Occupational safety in the laboratory

Qualification Goals

Students will learn the basics of microbiology theoretically and practically, acquiring an understanding of microbiological relationships. The fundamentals in the "structure and function of the prokaryotic cell, genetics and evolution, microbial growth, synthesis services of bacteria and their application in biotechnology" will be taught. The theory will be consolidated through experiments in the course. Special practice will be given in planning and conducting experiments. In addition to experimentation, students will become familiar with the mathematical and graphical methods necessary to document, interpret, and discuss results.
