M.Sc. Mathematics — Minor subject Biology

Prior to taking up the minor, students must register with the Dean of Students Office in the Department of Biology (Room 1089). Since the choices may be limited due to admission restrictions, it is recommended to attend the Biology Department's information event on module selection and, if necessary, to use the counseling services offered there if you have any questions (contact person: Dr. Maier).

If the minor subject Biology has not yet been taken in the Bachelor's program, 3 LP must be acquired in the module "Biology for Minor Students" and 7.5 LP in the core module "Genetics and Microbiology". In addition, another core module ("KM") of 7.5 LP must be completed. If the minor subject Biology has already been studied in the Bachelor's degree, one of the subject modules marked with "FM" must be completed to the extent of 12 LP. It should be noted that biological subject modules require knowledge from certain core modules and these dependencies must be taken into account when selecting the modules. In addition, a profile module worth 6 LP must be selected. The Department of Biology offers numerous profile modules, but access to these requires individual advice and consultation with the person responsible for the module; the current range of modules can be found on the BSc Biology website and is also linked on the MSc Mathematics website.
