Contents

Plant Ecology (VL):

This course covers the fundamentals of plant ecology: influence of abiotic environmental factors on plants, population biology of plants, ecology of plant communities, large-scale patterns of vegetation.

Plant Ecology (SE):

Students are expected to present on current results of plant ecology research to gain insight into the issues, methods, and thinking of modern plant ecology. The focus will be on topics that are scientifically addressed in the AG Plant Ecology (population biology of plants, effects of habitat fragmentation on plant biodiversity, global environmental change).

Plant Ecology Exercises:

Students will study the influence of environmental factors such as light, nutrient supply, and competition on plant growth and allocation patterns and plant population structure, and independently analyze the data obtained. In doing so, students will learn the basics of statistical analysis of ecological data using various programs, and deepen their knowledge through exercises on the computer.

Qualification Goals

Students learn the most important theoretical and practical principles of plant ecology. Emphasis is placed on the following topics: Plant and environment, population processes, structure and dynamics of plant communities, vegetation zones, methodology of plant ecology. The ability to understand and interpret ecological studies and the principles of statistical analysis of ecological studies and experiments are acquired.
