Qualification Goals

Population geography deals with the spatial impact of demographic structures and processes. The spatial differentiation and spatiotemporal change of the population in its structure and dynamics at different scale levels (global, national, regional, local) are analyzed, explained and evaluated. Students gain an overview of the state of scientific knowledge and become familiar with basic relationships, specific methods and important technical terms. The students acquire subject-specific and interdisciplinary methodological and application competence for the analysis and evaluation of spatially relevant issues of demographic change and spatial mobility. They expand their social and communication skills through group work, discussions and presentations.
