Contents

Contrasts between urban and rural areas, rich and poor, inclusion and exclusion in processes of globalization are the focus of this module. Thus, issues in rural geography are linked to topics in development and globalization studies. Included are topics such as global restructuring of agro-food networks and other industries, development and sustainable use of natural resources, global changes in agriculture as a trigger for social change, fragmenting development, theories of development, and development cooperation.


Qualification Goals

The objective of the module is to analyze and understand spatial structures and processes of globalization from a relational perspective. Students expand their social and communicative skills through group work, discussions and presentations.
