Contents
General introduction to basic botany; phylogenetic and geophysical relationships; historical development of biological concepts; theory building; cell biology and blueprints; types of organization; generational change; developmental biology; floral biology; energy balance; photosynthesis; phytohormones. Introduction to microscopic and plant anatomical working techniques; exemplary overview of plant cell and plant organ structures.
Qualification Goals
Competencies:
Students will gain an exemplary overview of plant organizational types and their blueprints, with the close relationship between structure and physiological function as a central theme. Furthermore, the phylogenetic relationships are elaborated when comparing different blueprints. In addition to the theoretical basics, practical skills in handling microscopes, microtomes and in scientific drawing are taught. The microscopy techniques learned will be used to provide students with direct insight into the major plant cell and tissue structures.
Qualification Objectives:
The module provides basic biological knowledge in plant anatomy and physiology.
Prerequisites
None
Applicability
Module imported from LAaG Biologie.
When studying B.Sc. Computer Science, this module can be attended in the study area Minor subject Biology.
