Contents
This module contains an in-depth analysis of the roots and impacts of poverty in developing countries. Imperfect markets (e.g. for land, credit, labour, health and insurance), social norms and political economy are analyzed, and implications for policy-making are drawn.
Qualification Goals
Upon completion of the module, students will be able to,
(1) identify the relevance of poverty, inequality, and resource exploitation as threats to sustainable development,
(2) reflect on the role of institutions as drivers of development; and
(3) apply theories and empirical methods in their own scholarly work.
