Contents

The module contains economic analyses of formal political institutions (e.g., voting procedures) and informal political institutions (e.g., the representation of special interests). In particular, it addresses the evolution of political institutions and the effects political institutions have on economic allocations.


Qualification Goals

Upon completion of the module, students will be able to,

(1) explain the channels of action through which political institutions influence economic allocation,

(2) summarize important findings from the literature on political institutions; and

(3) apply this knowledge to the evaluation of specific problems in similar contexts.
