This module deals with the question of the causes and possible solutions of environmental problems as well as their chances of implementation in the political process. Different policy areas and a variety of economic instruments are introduced (taxes, tradable certificates, subsidies). In addition, psychological aspects of environmental behavior are presented and how these interact with economic incentives.

Studierende sind nach Abschluss des Moduls in der Lage,

  • unterschiedliche theoretische und empirische Grundlagen der Umweltökonomik zu benennen und ihr Zusammenspiel zu erläutern,
  • Lösungsvorschläge für umwelt­ökonomische Problemstellungen zu erarbeiten und Ergebnisse individuellen und kollektiven Handelns zu reflektieren und empirische Daten zu analysieren und zu interpretieren,
  • Ergebnisse zu diskutieren, zu präsentieren und mit Kritik konstruktiv umzugehen.
