1) At the Airport, get to Terminal 1. If you arrived at Terminal 2, the "Sky line" (= airport metro) will be faster and more comfortable than the bus shuttle. At Terminal 1, follow the signs "Bahnhöfe / Train stations".

2) The train station is divided in 2 parts: platforms 1-3 (this is where you enter the station) are for regional trains and S-Bahn (metro), while platforms 4-7 are for long distance trains and a certain distance to walk from the entrance. Look for a RMV ticket vending machine and buy a ticket for a trip inside Frankfurt (code 50 for Frankfurt), price: approx. 5 EUR.

3) Take the S-Bahn to "Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof" from platform 1 (direction "city"). Travelling time: 11 minutes.

4) At Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, find out which is the next train to Marburg (for example, there are large screens inside the station indicating the next departures), the rough direction is Kassel / Göttingen / Hannover. They usually depart from platforms 14-16. There are two possibilities:

• Your train is marked S-Bahn (RB) or RE: Then this is a sort of upgraded metro train and you need an RMV ticket. Vending machines are at the beginning of all platforms from which these trains are departing (type code 05 for Marburg).
  Careful: some of these trains are being split in Giessen, which is the main city before Marburg. One half of the train is continuing to Dillenburg (wrong!), the other half to Treysa (right). Price: approx. 18 EUR. Travelling time: approx. 1 h 15- 1 h 30 min.
• Your train is marked IC: these are the regular trains of DB with less stops than the RMV trains. Hence, you need a ticket from DB, available either at the red DB ticket vending machines or at "Reisezentrum". Price: approx. 24 EUR. Travelling time: approx. 60 min.
