In seminar

Discussion of current iGEM projects, presentation of current iGEMWikis, development of ''human practice'' contributions, discussion of current biobricks, brainstorming and design of a new iGEM project.

What is Synthetic Biology? Primordial chemistry. Early chemical models for life. Chemical Biology. Biochemistry of pathway engineering. iGEM. Ethical and societal aspects.

In the course

As part of the preparation for participation in the iGEM competition in the fall, a joint project will be developed, an iGEM poster and an iGEM wiki will be created, and a presentation talk will be prepared. Contacts are to be established for the creation of a ''Human Practice'' project. In addition, the experiments and biobricks planned for the iGEMproject work in the summer semester are to be planned and prepared.


Qualification Goals

Introduction to the field of synthetic biology. Overview of current research topics in synthetic biology. Learning the basics of modeling biological systems. Design and presentation of an independent iGEM project.
